“Preserving eco-systems for a sustainable life”

ETB

PROTECT THE RAINFOREST THROUGH THE POWER OF ECO-LIFE TREEBANK (ETB)

The Eco-life TreeBank (ETB) model is the first of its kind that is designed to create the kind of major impact required to stop the massive deforestation of the rainforest, significantly increasing the total area of land that will be managed for sustainable reforestation. It is an economically and ecologically sustainable approach that can effectively deal with a problem that is truly global in scale. ETB is the lynchpin in the successful implementation of the Eco-Life’s Rainforest Conservation Convergence (RCC) strategy.

To achieve sustainable reforestation, the Eco-Life Treebank has a “6-point Treebank approach”

  1. Protect-A-Hectare Sponsorship. The Foundation embarks on aggressive marketing campaign to solicit tree-sponsors for our reforestation program. The sponsorship is designed in such a way that various sectors and individuals are motivated to participate according to their ability to contribute. The Adopt-A Hectare project includes a package of benefits that will induce more and more people to participate.
  2. ETB Landbanking. The Foundation is forging links with various governmental and private organizations and individual landowners to expand the areas to be covered by forest plantation establishment. While its focus of rainforest conservation is in the Zambales Rainforest, the Foundation is open to other areas that offer significant impact on rainforest conservation. Outside areas include mangrove development in San Juan, Ilocos Sur and jathropa nursery in Norzagaray, Bulacan. To date, we have accumulated 1000 hectares of forested lands available for reforestation.
  3. Forest Plantation Establishment. Your sponsorship of a single hectare is just the first step. The proceeds from every sponsored hectare will fund environmentally sustainable agro-forestry enterprises in the Zambales rainforest and other ETB lands. It will act as a catalyst in launching an ongoing series of sustainable development projects and programs designed to preserve the biodiversity, reclaim deforested lands, and support the entrepreneurial spirit of the people of the rainforest. While we encourage indigenous forest species, we give priority to trees that directly support our sustainable eco-business enterprises. Our Foundation is now trailblazing in the commercial nursery of jathropa curcas which has proven to have oil-rich content for bio-diesel production.
  4. Forest Maintenance & Protection. Your Sponsorship Fee will primarily go towards protecting a specific hectare of the identified Treebank land inventory in your name, according to laws of the Philippines and strict international standards of conservation and sustainable land use. Through charitable donation to our Foundation, we will train traditional and indigenous rainforest people to serve as ETB Forest Rangers who will guard your sponsored hectare from poachers and illegal loggers.
  5. Community Participation & Livelihood Generation. We will also train local rainforest people, at prevailing market rates, to work as forest-friendly fruit pickers, crafts people, gatherers of medicinal plants, and others. With the high multiplier effect of its planned bio-diesel project, the Foundation sees greater livelihood opportunities for the people, especially those living around the rainforest.
  6. Sustainable Eco-friendly Business Enterprises. The Foundation, together with Optimus Innovations, Inc., will invest (and reinvest) proceeds of the Protect-A-Hectare, into the production and promotion of a wide range of eco-friendly products. Profits from the above activities will also be used to fund massive reforestation projects. Eco-life plans to plant up to 5,000 hectares of ‘jathropa curcas’ as part of our effort to pioneer in cooperative-based bio-diesel production to fight global warming. Unlike other conservation projects run by Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) which are dependent on charitable gifts from foreign donors, the Eco-life TreeBank is anchored on the technical expertise of its corporate arm, Optimus Innovations, Inc. to effectively utilize market forces to sustain its operations. As a for-profit company, Optimus Innovations, Inc., seeks to provide the kind of business development expertise and worldwide marketing efforts required to undertake a massive rainforest conservation program.
