BACKGROUND

The Foundation was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on March 4, 2003 with the following primary purpose:

“To harness all available financial and manpower resources to support innovative programs toward a sustainable reforestation and ecological balance for a healthy life; to create awareness among the people on the need for sustainable reforestation; to creatively involve all sectors of society, especially the youth and students, toward holistic medicine and; to establish and manage a learning center for sustainable forest management.”

The Foundation has more than 11 years of experience in humanitarian and development work as it started as Community Development Division of its pioneering holding company — Optimus Managers and Advisors, Inc. Its spin-off from the group of companies was triggered by the increasing demand for non-profit and humanitarian work to ensure the equitable distribution of benefits to its stakeholders – especially the poor.

For its trailblazing initiatives in sustainable agriculture and forestry, the Foundation won as a Finalist – Awardee during the World Bank’s 2004 Development Innovations Marketplace.

Since its inception, the Foundation has been self-reliant and efficient in financing its projects. While at first it relied on the donations of its supporters and affiliate companies, the Foundation is gradually relying on the revenue-generating projects and enterprises it is now spearheading alongside of its rainforest conservation efforts.

The Foundation has been accredited as a Donnee Institution by the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue. Through this, all donations to the Foundation are entitled to full tax deductibility and Donors tax exemption.
